Preserving the confidentiality, integrity and availability of research data is more important now than ever before. Depending on the type of research and the type of data involved, certain federal, state, local or tribal regulations may apply. Contact us today if you have any questions about research you are currently conducting or considering pursuing. It is important to consider data security needs at the beginning of any research process. Federal regulations, such as Export Control or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) may apply. A contracting agency could also require compliance with standards from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Colorado State University also has policies on Data Classification, Acceptable Use, and Research Data.
