Database Information

The following information is provided to assist departmental LAN managers with the installation, configuration, and support of the desktop environments that are used to access the central administrative applications.

General

Oracle Client

The Oracle Client Base is required for Oracle Client ODBC and Oracle Client JDBC access to Oracle databases. The ODBC and JDBC drivers are used by such tools as MS-ACCESS, MS-EXCEL, COLDFUSION and ASP to access the ODS data store. The ODBC drivers require the Oracle Client TNSNAMES and the Oracle Client SQLNET entries to identify the host server and the database connection.

Oracle Client Downloads

Oracle Client TNSNAMES.ORA

Oracle Client SQLNET.ORA is now obsolete and has been removed from this page. Please remove any sqlnet.ora files from client machines.

Desktop and Browser Configuration Support

A web browser is used to support running a java applet in the client environment to access the central administrative applications. Information Systems recommends a Windows desktop running Microsoft Internet Explorer as the client environment to access these administrative applications. Oracle Corporation has provided the following certification and configuration information for browsers that can be used to access the Oracle Internet Application Server, which Information Systems uses for central administrative applications.

Note 1: Oracle strongly recommends that Oracle E-Business Suite R12 customers move to the latest and therefore most secure certified version of the JRE Native Plug-in on either the JRE 7 stream, JRE 1.7.0_25(7u25),or the JRE 6 stream, JRE 1.6.0_51(6u51).
